New Federal Battery Rebate

Save up to $4,000 on Solar Battery Installation from 1st July 2025!

Big news for Australian households, small businesses and community groups – the re-elected Albanese Government is launching a major incentive to make solar battery storage more affordable than ever.

Starting 1 July 2025, the $2.3 billion Cheaper Home Batteries Program will provide a 30% rebate on the cost of installed home batteries – saving most households around $4,000.

If you already have rooftop solar, adding a battery could slash your energy bill by up to $1,100 a year. Installing solar and a battery together could save up to $2,300 a year, which is as much as 90% off a typical power bill.

Key Details:

  • 30% rebate on battery systems, delivered via the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme

  • Over 1 million new batteries expected to be installed by 2030

  • Available to homeowners, small businesses, and community facilities

  • Systems up to 100kWh, with support for up to 50kWh eligible for the subsidy

This is a game-changing opportunity for Victorians looking to gain energy independence and cut long-term electricity costs.

What’s more, Victorians can combine this federal rebate with the Solar Victoria battery loan, which offers up to $8,800 interest-free, making it even more affordable to install a system now and pay it off over four years.

Why batteries?

Battery storage lets you:

  • Store your excess solar energy to use at night or during peak grid pricing

  • Become less reliant on energy retailers

  • Protect yourself from rising electricity costs

  • Help stabilise the grid and lower demand during peak hours

At Energy Wired, our Solar Solutions Consultants are ready to help you understand your eligibility, design the right system, and make the most of this rebate before demand spikes.
